| Stenosis |
| |
Stenosis refers to a narrowing of the spinal
canal. With aging and degeneration of the discs, the bones begin to mushroom
(spur) and can push on the nerves entering and leaving the spinal cord.
This can result in pain, numbness and/ or weakness. |
| |
| Our treatments involves stretching to improve
mobility around the spine (REPEX, traction, etc.); posture modification
and training; low impact aerobic training; and isolated strengthening of
the surrounding muscles of the spine (Stabilization strengthening, MedX,
etc.). |
| |
Physical therapy focused on restoring normal
flexibility and posture coupled with isolated back strengthening has been
shown effective in treating spinal stenosis. |
